270V Battery System :: X-38 Crew Return Vehicle for NASA and AZ Technology 270 V Battery Strings Simplified Aid for EVA Rescue (SAFER) 36 V High Power Bundles EHIP - The EHIP battery assembly powers the head mounted light on the astronauts' space suit. It is a 6V 10.8Ah NiMH battery. SRI has performed cell acceptance tests, as well as performing various tests on this battery. ProSEDS (1/2 D MSFC) - The Propulsive Small Expendable Deployer system is a tether-based propulsion experiment that draws power from the space environment around Earth, allowing the transfer of energy from the Earth to the spacecraft. SRI procured 1/2 D cells, tested and assembled multiple battery sticks for the project. REBA - REBA is 12V, 3.6Ah NiMH battery used in EVA for NASA. SRI has performed cell acceptance tests and fabricated packs. Pistol Grip Tool (PGT) EMU - EMU is NASA's term for the space suit. The current EMU battery is a silver/zinc chemistry. SRI has performed internal resistance (Re) testing on the Ag/Zn model, as well as, extensive testing on a lithium ion battery design as a replacement possibility.
