SRI designed and developed this stand-alone battery as a building block to the 270V battery. This 36V, 2.4Ah battery delivers 80A for a 10s pulse and can deliver 20A continuously. The battery is designed to handle electrical, mechanical, and thermal issues associated with the use of small, high-power cells in high cell counts. Extensive cell and battery application testing has been completed including low resistance short circuit. The robust design allows batteries to be easily linked in series-parallel to deliver incremental power and voltages, such as those used in 270V systems. They have also survived 18,000-pound pallet drops from high-altitude para-foil tests.
